Flower Dome, Gardens by the Bay, Singapore
high-definition creative commons photographs from the Flower Dome, in the Gardens by the Bay, Singapore together with further information.
I am very grateful indeed to Eduardo Marti who took the time to identify most of these plants and flowers for me.
The Gardens by the Bay is a recent development on reclaimed land in the Downtown area of Singapore on over 50 hectares. One part consists of a giant greenhouse known as the Flower Dome, which in itself covers 3 acres. Inside the temperature is maintained at between 23-25° centigrade, and the flowers are found blossoming all year round.
The Dome is arranged into seven different gardens, including an Australian, a South African, a South American and a Californian garden, as well as an Olive Grove, a Baobab Grove and a Succulent Garden. The photos below start by showing the setting in the Gardens, then move on to the flower shots. Unfortunately I walked rather at random, so the photos cannot be divided according to Garden as I would like.
